Homesteading Classes – how to do what we’re doing. YES…you can do this too!
Finding your Homestead – You’re chasing your dream, but watch out you don’t end up in a nightmare. In this class, we’ll look at the different homestead options available. Urban homesteading? Yeah, it’s a thing. Build from scratch? What you need to know before you buy. How to find property with no bank financing necessary. What to look for when you look at the property. Hidden gems and treasures. We’ll also look at several “homestead friendly” counties in Washington and what to watch for when selecting your location. Cost is $15.00 per person. Wear mud-luscious shoes, as we’ll be traversing Sweet Earth and the surrounding areas.
Housing Options – Tiny homes, RV living, Container Homes. On-grid vs. Off-grid. Cob homes, Cordwood homes and Strawbale. There are more options appearing everyday. Creative ways to build a home and creative ways to legally live on your land. We’ll discuss the options and put hands on with one or more of the building materials. This is a mini-hands-on workshop experience, where you’ll be able to dabble a little in a few methods. Cost is $50.00 per person. Class time is 6-8 hours, depending on methods explored. Minimum class size of 10 people/Maximum size of 20.
Cord Wood Building – Join us as we build a cordwood shed. In the morning, we’ll start with a discussion about the building materials, architectural design and tools needed. Then, we’ll begin the construction of a cordwood shed. Cordwood building is a low cost method of building, with high R-values, and construction easy enough for the lay person to do. You can easily build an entire home out of normal cordwood. This is a hands-on workshop. Cost is $100.00 per person. Minimum class size of 10/ Maximum of 20. Lunch and snacks are served.
